Bug Sniffing
That one roach episode aside, where he slept while it ran under his leg, he is pretty good at sniffing at bugs, letting me know when something is running around that ought not be running around. And tonight, he sniffed out (and barked at) a brand new contender.
Exhibit A: a Scorpion If I had thought to name him before I squished him dead, I would have named him Frances. Now his name is Dead Frances. |
Exhibit B: Pop Tarts Blueberry & Peach. |
Question-it-may-be-too-late-to-answer: Why don't "real" pop tarts come in peach? Is there something they know that I don't? It might be a bad idea. I'll tell you in a minute. **1 minute passes*nomnomnom** Nope, it's a fine idea. And speaking of fine ideas, let me dispel a myth for you all: baking on stoneware is not the same as baking on aluminum, even professional grade. Observe the following example:
Exhibit B.1: Pop tart baked on stoneware |
Exhibit B.2: Pop tart baked on aluminum |
Still not convinced?
Exhibit B.3: Bottom is stoneware, top is aluminum. Bot baked for the same amount of time. I rest my case. |
Finally, my only announcement tonight without a picture, I'm finally investing in my community. You know, the whole, "Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you... says the Lord"-thing that was weighing on my mind? (Jeremiah 29:7-ish) Well tomorrow for the second time, I'll be heading out in the early morning to help build a Habitat for Humanity house (that's who the pop tarts are for). It's nice that, when I go to help out with my church, I leave with blisters. Those blisters, they're like proof that I've obeyed what God told me to do. I'll take them, along with the character-building and the obedience-muscle-strengthening.
And that, dear friends, is my Friday night. I wish you the very best of weekends.
Peace, Love, & Blisters,
TFW
So proud to know your bug-squashing, popt-tart baking, serving in Jesus' name self.
ReplyDeleteCool, I never knew anyone that baked their own poptarts.
ReplyDeleteI always believed scorpions were deadly poisonous, so one night when I walked into the kitchen in the dark and felt like I had a thumbtack jabbed into my toe, I thought I was a goner. I wasn't the only one, my husband called poison control. LOL!
We sat around and waited for me to have the same kind of reaction as someone who might be allergic to bee stings, but I was too tired to sit up and wait to die, so went back to bed. Didn't even so much as swell or feel tender or itch or nothing.
Think I decided I'd rather be popped by a scorpion than a bee.
@Melissa,
ReplyDeleteThat's good to know that Handsome is not just pulling my chain. He told me that I shouldn't have killed it since it kills cockroaches. It doesn't.
