And then there are other things.
Things that can only happen in the south.
I present, for your viewing pleasure, the first of two Southern Experiences for you today.
(1) As if the door latch was not enough, of course the man driving the truck is wearing camouflage. Because that's what we do here. I'm guessing he's either got (a) a glass of sweet tea in his cup holder, or (b) a hushpuppy rolling around on the passenger side.
(2) Brown Sugar Pound Cake. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on this. Yes, there is a good deal of butter, sugar, and more sugar in this cake. And yes, it makes a ridiculous amount of cake, which might not seem necessary. Take no head to that thought - it is most definitely necessary.
The recipe for this cake is from the Southern Living Christmas Cookbook that my Grandma got for me the first Christmas I lived south of the Mason/Dixon. It's so so so good. Especially the top, and extra especially after the first day. Chewy and sweet, sweet, sweet.
Sugar is Sweet, and so are you,
TFW
YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUST TRY THIS...(I was saying this in a possessed foodie robot voice!)
ReplyDeleteI totally read it in a possessed robot voice. Like, outloud. thanks for that :)
DeleteWow! That cakes looks good. I am fan of pound cake, but I've never heard of brown sugar pound cake. I guess that's because I'm not from the south, but my hubby would totally be on board with the camouflage and sweet tea. ;-)

You should try it! It's just... so darn good!
DeleteThat looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe truck or the cake? I was pretty amazed at the truck, myself :) I've used it as the cake for strawberry shortcake, and it was AWESOME.
DeleteOMNOMNOM!! That cake needs to get in my belly!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the sweet tea and camo thing? yeah... happens in the midwest, too.
Yay!! You've just expanded my list of places I could move to and survive!
DeleteI just really want to know:
ReplyDeleteIs the door lock broken? and he forgot that he put the latch on the OUTSIDE of the door?
Or is the door broken so that it won't stay shut? And this tiny little latch is holding the entire door closed?
I NEED TO KNOW :)
I'm going with "the door won't stay shut". Impressive, no?
