Sometimes, life is sort of difficult. Sometimes it's just plain hard. Sometimes it's confusing. I know personally, I'm constantly trying to figure out if I'm the kind of person who has a clean fridge face, or the kind who covers it with photos. Right now, the photos are winner. Other things are more pressing, like storage problems that are actually stuff problems, and deciding whether to be hospitable if it means cleaning my house, and what to do when cold weather hits. Maybe you have these problems. Maybe you don't. In case you do, let me make things easier for you with a few helpful things I've found.
1. Terry-lined Wool Socks
2. Dropbox. This is my storage/have the right papers when I need them solution. Now, I'm not a technical person, so bear with my ridiculously over-simplified explanation here, but this is what Dropbox is - a magical folder, out in space. You can access it from anywhere with internet, and you save stuff in it. Photos? Automatically uploads and saves them, if you want it to (super fast, too). Documents you need both at work and at home? Not a problem. Video you want to share with your brother but not the world (youtube)? Upload it to Dropbox, share it with the brosef, and boom! You're both laughing at the dramatic lemur, 2000+ miles apart.
You can even use it on your smart phone. Oh, and it's free. Which is awesome. You can pay for a ton of extra space, but you don't have to. So check it out. I just got my Madre hooked up, and now we can share pictures of the kiddos in our family, so we don't have to steal low-quality ones off of facebook anymore.
3. Mint. I'm pretty sure I've talked about this before, but mint.com is the bomb-diggaty for keeping track of where your monies go. It's totally secure (httpS, that's right!) and super helpful. Not only can you set up budgets, track your spending, and be reminded of bills, but it also helps you set goals (like "Pay off Car" and whatnot). It can track your debit card, credit card, loans, and even, with a bit more work from you, cash spending! I also just realized that if you deposit some $$ for a specific reason, like "Baby Supplies", you can credit it to that specific budget in order to know how much you've actually set aside. Crazy, right? Oh, and also free. WOOT!
4. Magic Eraser
There. That's what I wanted to share with you. I also wanted to tell you about how I washed my pillows this weekend and the best way to do that, but I messed them up and they're all lumpy. So perhaps after a few days, I'll be able to tell you all about the best way to fall asleep on a lumpy pillow... ;)
Got any good links to share with me?

"that's like the difference between Swiss Miss and Real Hot Chocolate"
ReplyDeleteI've never heard a more true statement. For reals. I'm kind of a hot chocolate snob but I'm so much happier afterwards!
I haven't had any of the real stuff since that week where I drank it twice daily... and promptly gained 4 lbs (I blame baby). But I had some this afternoon, and it was SO good!
Deleteexactly the sort of thing that's been on my mind... so many of these things keep me spinning in circles trying to figure out how to get everything done. i'm organizing closets today.. maybe the dropbox will soon help with the files and photos that feel so overwhelming!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a lifesaver for me, when I leave my laptop at home but need a file at work or something. And the pictures - SO fast and easy! My phone & camera photos upload super fast! Hope it helps!
DeleteI am so with you on the magic eraser. By far my most favorite household item. It's proved its worth time and time again after the little devil...er...beloved child of my youth has displayed his artwork on my wall for all to see.
ReplyDeleteYou know, his heart is evil above all things and desperately wicked... I don't think "little devil" is that far off... ha ha ha! I told my sister that about her firstborn, and she didn't take it too well. Don't be mad ;)
