Made For Christmas :: Stocking Giveaway

"It's Sunday night, do you know where your children are?"

Anybody else remember that super creepy PSA?

It has nothing to do with this post.  But do you want to know what my mother's daughter is doing?  She's sitting in my spare 'oome, cutting square after merciless square of 2.5-inch grayscale fabric for a very special Christmas present, while watching classic Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.  Obvi.  What else do people do on a chilly Sunday night in December?  P.S.- I've loved DQMW for so long, I'm really being taken back here, and I'm diggin' it!  Thank you, Amazon Prime!

This has been my seat for pretty much the entire weekend, and will be for the foreseeable future, as I've got a long list from Santa that must be filled before the holiday comes!  So far, I've half-made quite a few things, but have only one finished product to show, which is up for a giveaway if you can make it to the bottom of this post!!

Here's what we have!

Squares.  So many squares.  900, if I hadn't wised-up and combined some like-squares.  I may or may not have written an excel program to count how many of each type I needed... I can't help it, the nerd and the artist coexist in me!  And what's it for?  I can't tell you, silly!  It's a super secret!  Let's just say that there's a genius in the UK that created a patchwork pattern maker, and I've uploaded a very special picture that I am now furiously turning into a quilt.  Fingers crossed that it gets done before Christmas!  I can't wait to show you all!

These teensy stockings are in the process of being turned into sweet ornaments for all of our nieces and nephews.  You might know that Handsome's Grandma makes ornaments for all of her family, all 60+ of them, each year.  They're beautiful.  While I don't think that these measure up, it is the start of a nice tradition for our little family.  However, I have to declare a ban on names that start with "B" for all future nieces & nephews.  That letter was HARD, yo!

Finally, the sneak peek!  Shown above is a close-up of a stocking I'm making for a very special niece!  However, I had to practice, and as such, I've got another stocking hanging around, just looking for an owner!  That's where you come in!  Check out the Rafflecopter widget below for your chance to win!  The contest will only run through Tuesday at noon, in order to get the stocking out in the mail for Christmas!  (US Residents, only!)  And there may or may not be some special treats in the stocking for the winner!  The fabric is just gorgeous (Newborn King, I think is the print) and it's Christmas-y, but not in the traditional sense.  I'm in love with it!

Stockings on Christmas morning are one of my very favorite types of gifts.  I really don't even care that much whats in them, as long as it's not a rotten pomegranate from a year ago... hypothetically...  I just love stockings.  The surprise.  The fact that things have to be little to fit in them.  I love all of it!  I've still yet to make Riley Girl's stocking, but if everything else pushes it back I'll just give her Duke's from last year :)  On my side of the family, since we've grown to epic proportions, we all just bring one thing for everyone's stocking, and then open them together.  Favorite tradition ever!

As a friend of RG's Grandma in PA, I would treasure a stocking from Momma. I hung 11 stockings this year. one for each of my grandchildren ages 25 down to 6 and one great granddaughter Emma Rose. If I would be so lucky to win this, it would become Emma's stocking to replace the generic red and white one she now has. Love to all and have a blessed Baby Jesus birthday party.

  7. My family has always been 100% committed to stocking giving since I was a kid. We cram them to overflowing and pay perfect attention as each person opens all the little gifts! And there's always chocolate involved.
