Little Things :: Big Happy

I've gone to ground, friends.

The to-do's are piling up faster than ever, there's feelings floating around in the air, and Handsome has been working overtime.  Oh, and baby girl started daycare this week, and she's not napping and cranky.  It is cray cray up in this hizzouse.  I cry every morning, Handsome just wants an hour or two to do whatever he wants, and Rileygirl, well, she still doesn't speak English, so we have no idea what's up with her.

So it's been deep with the funk around these parts, and I'm tried of it.  I tried to write yesterday, and even started writing a letter to my babydaddy, which usually just flows right out of my fingertips, but not yesterday.  I got 3 sentences in and just quit.  There wasn't any happy inside me - it was all funk.  And while I'll occassionally hit you with some not-happy, I wasn't about to throw that funk at you.  If I didn't like the way I was feeling, I was fairly certain that you wouldn't be excited to read about it.

Nothing much has changed today.  Just more piled on, truth be told.  But I'm tired of barely surviving, and so I'm going to thrive, dangit, and as a start, I'm gathering my own happiness.  I've just collected some little things that bring me joy and peace and sunshine and rainbows and unicorn tears (they're happy tears - unicorns are never sad [lie!]).

1. Those crossed ankles.
It's her default position, whether she's reading or eating or chilling.
I love that she does that.
2. The way she trusts us.
No fear.
2b. The fact that we haven't yet dropped her in a serious way.
Handsome & I are both so uncoordinated, I really thought it would have happened by now.
We call this picture "Future Olympian - Pairs Skating"
3. The light in our bathroom this afternoon
4. The way my house feels when its all clean
5. The good fortune of the toilet lid being down when RG wandered in there
6. Puddles and an adventurous little girl
7. A warm afternoon
8. This guy
Particularly when he gets to do what he excels at.
Handsome rockin' it = my heart pitter-patt-ing
9. The fact that someone, anyone, can still find value in a Blockbuster card
Yes, they're mostly pictures of my little family doing our everyday things, but that's where I live, that's where my days are spent.  So I reach to find beauty and joy and happiness in the everyday things, in order to be in love with my life.  And now, I'm going to bed, happy because of all of these pictures and also because my tummy is full of these and my house smells like this. :)

What are your little happies?
<3 M.
