Tempting Fate

My list for the day did not look like this:

ToDo: Tempt Fate

But I went ahead and tempted away.  Because I'm reckless like that.  I have to be on edge, just to feel alive.

That's a lie.

I did it because... because I have the attention span of a goldfish.  And even though I got a text when I walked out of the building that said "Sever Thunderstorm warning for the next 2 hours.  Capable of producing hail", when I got to my Jeep, I went ahead and took the lid off of it (I like "lid" better than "top", because "I took my top off" just sounds ... incorrect.).  Seriously, about 1.8 minutes had elapsed [can I get a "woot woot!" for the supremo parking spot??!].

As I drove, I noticed that there were dark clouds in the distance.  Like, really dark clouds.

Beautiful on the left (where I was at the time the decision was made).
Dark and threatening on the right (the direction I had to drive towards.

This storm was building, people.  I'm talking lightening streaking across the sky, and thunder booming.  As I drove towards the eye of the storm (I may or may not have watched Twister 15 thousand times), all I could think was: "I hope Handsome isn't parked in the carport".  Because I'm loving like that.  I had plans to stop at the grocery store, tout suite (milk & mayo, that's all!) but quickly abandoned those plans as I could see the rain falling out of the clouds in the distance.

Similar to this.
But less... fantasticly taken & colorful.
Mostly just like that top left corner.

I wish I could tell you that the first raindrop hit the pavement just as I pulled under the carport.  I mean, who doesn't love a big dramatic finish?  But I can't.  It's now 35 minutes after I left my office, and I have yet to see one rain drop fall.  The sky is still clamoring, but now it just sounds like empty threats.

However, on my ToDo list, I can now do this:

ToDo: Tempt Fate [check!]

And really, I love a checked box almost as much as I love a thunderstorm.  Almost.  Have you tempted fate lately?  Anything exciting or at least pulse-raising?

Fate-tempter extraordinaire,
TFW
