Laugh Till You Cry

I know there are more important things in life than funny YouTube videos.  I know there's valuable and enriching things.  Things that make you smarter or better or healthier.

However.

There are few things that are so skilled at making you laugh until you cry.  C'mon, we've all been there.  It's late.  You & a friend are just chatting on the couch, when one of you cracks a one-liner from your favorite funny video, and your friend doesn't get it.  Like, if your friend asks you "Where did you put my glass of water?" and you respond with "I threw it on the ground!!!" and she just looks at you like you've lost your mind.  You realize you haven't shared the goodness that is the I Threw It On The Ground video, and suddenly nothing in life is as important as sharing that video.

Well.  We're friends here.  And I'd hate for you to not experience the same sort of camaraderie that comes with late nights chatting on the couch, just because we're miles apart.  So please, without further ado, let us delve into the black hole that is YouTube, and share my most recent find.

I'm usually the first to tout the rule "No Christmas songs until after Thanksgiving!"  It seems I'm shouting it more and more, while adding in a "No Halloween decorations until after Labor Day!  Seriously, the world has gone mad.  But regardless, this little piece of pop culture history is so amazing, I'm willing to bend the rule.  Listen to it.  Watch it.  Now.

Do you have any favorites?  Any "laugh till you cry" that you can share with me?

Television Has Taught Me

Television has taught me that opera just isn't as hard as people make it look.  I mean, it sounds impressive, sure.  And those ladies in the viking hats, they make it look like you could die if you attempted it.

But I've watched a few episodes here and there of *insert country's name here*'s got Talent, and apparently people who sing opera well are not all that uncommon.  That opens up a whole new way of thinking, a whole new realm of possibilities.

Maybe I sing opera well.  Maybe you do.  Do you?

I'm not going to try and sing opera, because I like to let the possibility live.  I really like to listen to people sing it, for about 2 songs.  There's just something soothing about not being able to understand these kids and their crazy singing languages.  They also make me cry.  And sometimes, I just love a good cry.

Charlotte and Jonathan can sing opera.

Pittsburgh Native (woop woop!) Jackie can sing opera.

Susan Boyle (can't leave her out) can sing opera.

Sung-bong Choi can sing opera

So the question remains.  Can you sing opera?

Living in the realm of possibility,

31 Days: Home in Bed

Here's the simple truth: I've been cheated, and my body knows it.  Mainly, I've been cheated by the United States government.  For the majority of my life, I lived according to a certain standard, and then in 2005, whoosh!  In comes Congress, sweeping away my previous life and replacing it with a new one.  Even today, six years later, my body mourns the loss of that day.

The day Daylight Savings Time was changed.

Let us observe a moment of silence.

I know that daylight savings time will turn next week.  But for most of my life, (according to wiki) it was always switching over on 2 AM of the last Sunday of October.  Now we've got a whole other 6 days to wait, and my body knows.  It knows!  It knows that right now, I should still be home in bed, enjoying that extra hour of sleep.  Boo.  According to the sweet web page with clouds that google sent me to, Congress reserves the right to change back to the old ways, should this new change-date prove unpopular.  Well, Congress, hear you me - THIS IS UNPOPULAR.

In truth, I only feel slightly strongly about this.  But I wanted to share.  And I wanted some hot coffolatte to substitute for sleep, but I didn't get that.  But as the Rolling Stones have taught us...

Getting what I need (next  Sunday at 2 AM),
