Vitamin-D Fatigue

You guys.  This weekend was such a good weekend, but the kind of weekend that you need a weekend from afterwards.  Or perhaps I just need a leetle bit more regular exercise in my days, because whoa! I am wiped. out.  Handsome is sleeping on the living room floor, per his usual I-ran-5-miles-today-so-now-I'm-tired.  Me, well, I just got a little bit of sun, and you know how that does.

I want you to know that if you ever, EVAR, have the chance to participate in a Color Run (by the legit color run folks), you should.  Unless you hate color.  Or happiness.  Or fanny packs.  Provided that you hate none of those, you should do it.

(before)

(after)
The weekend didn't stop with the run, though.  There was a gymnastics meet where I got to see little toddlers do their "routine" and about die of cuteness.  There was a great morning at church where RG did not get kicked out of the nursery for inconsolable fussiness (as opposed to last week...).  And then there was a stolen hour at the lake in the warm sunshine (hence my tiredness) (vitamin D-fatigue, its a thing).

This was an especially sweet weekend because its one of the last for a while.  The proper motivation has been provided for me to finally finish my dissertation, and so there will be a lot of all-work-and-no-play-makes-Mariah-a-dull-girl weekends in my future, until I finally graduate this summer.  I'm not looking forward to the getting there, but being done?  Oh mylanta, the idea that I might actually be finished with being a student sounds almost better than chocolate.  Which, on this 35th day of Lent, is really saying something. [Note: the Lenten season expires (totally not the right word) on Thursday after Mass.  FYI.]

Gear up, folks, its gonna be Monday tomorrow.  And that means its go-time.

Up a Creek Tree

Handsome was home this weekend.  I'm talking Friday, Saturday, and most of today.  And it. was. wonderful.  I almost got used to him being around!  It was sort of like a vacation, but with a lot more work being done.  I don't mind, though, as long as I get to hang out with that guy I married.

He's fabulous.
His sweet skillz with a chainsaw and a rope don't hurt any, either.
More to come on this.
Feeling Fully Rested,

In This Moment

I'm eating this:

Covered up in this:

My favorite T-shirt quilt
Watching a little BBC on Netflix.  The women's eyebrows are amazing.  My perfect Saturday afternoon.

What are you doing in this moment?

Reflection

Let's just start out by stating the obvious: It's way to late for me to be posting.

Moving along.

I had a wonderful weekend.  It's technically an hour into Monday now, so the weekend is officially over.  Thus a time for reflection.  Otherwise, when I see people tomorrow and they say the ole, "How was your weekend?" I will have to answer with "Good... I think..."

I don't want to have to think.  I want to know.  And I do know.  It was Goooood.  Plenty of sleep, good.  Handsome & I together 98% of the time, good.  Quiet and loud and fun and slow, good.  Friends and weird neighbor encounters, good.  Fabulous food and s'mores in our fireplace, good.

Not my picture.
I took one like it, but my camera is downstairs and...
Dang these multi-level houses!

It was having my favorite kiddos in the nursery this morning, good.  God-is-movin'-at-my-church, good.  It was Christmas movies and couch lounging, good.  Wrapped presents, bought presents, made presents, good.  Mountain-biking, exploring, sweating, good.  Finishing projects, good.  FIRE IN OUR OWN FIREPLACE, good.  Good Good Good, good.

(I'm just so pumped about the fireplace, in case you can't tell!)

And now it's Monday.  My plans??  Well, I'm going to sleep for a good long while; that much I know.  After that, the day is wide open.  How was your weekend?

I might become a pyro,

Goings Ons

Hi all!  I hope you've had a lovely weekend.  I don't know if this ever happens to you, but on Monday morning, when people in my office ask me how my weekend was, I usually have to stop and think and try to remember. "I think it was good..." is my default response.

Not because I've spent the weekend in a drunken stupor or anything, just because... well, I don't know why.  Because Monday morning is a hard time to function?  Because ... I was going to put another reason here, but I couldn't think of another reason.  Apparently Sunday night is a hard time for me to function, as well.

I think this is a cocoon.
Maybe an abandoned one?
It was red a few days ago, but I don't know what that means.
If I had a cocoon, it'd be made of flannel and old t-shirts.
So while I'm still in it, I'm going to attempt to document that this weekend was, in fact, swell.  Let me begin by stating that the weather was gorgeous, and legit Fall was edging out Flummer for most of it.  I've gotten stuff done, thanks in no small part to the music you all suggested.  Speaking of music, church was fantastic this morning.  The worship music was great, and then they opened the sermon with a girl singing "Don't Stop Believin'".  I mean, it wasn't a worship song, but if I thought about it as a mini-bonus concert, it was fantastic.

Outdoor Movies

These last two weekends have been wonderful and more wonderful, thanks in no small part to the fact that Handsome has been off for two days!  Last weekend was his Sat/Sun combo, which is always nice.  It’s also sort of rare, as it won’t happen again until December.

This weekend was a Fri/Sat combo, and although I had to work Friday while he was home, we still managed to salvage it.  We went out for pizza, which we ate on a covered porch while the sky drizzled.  We laughed and picked and teased, and just had a lot of fun, the two of us.  It was such a carefree mood, which seems a little out of place with all that has been going on in our lives, but it was uber enjoyable, nevertheless.

After dinner, I remembered what our plans were for the evening.  It was going to be a big, BIG night.  My only complaint about the loverly South Carolina was about to be rectified – we were going to watch a movie, OUTSIDE.

Be still my heart, there are few things I love more than sitting out on a blanket, eating crappy concession food, collecting dew, and watching a movie under the stars.  Glory Hallelujah, it is summer at its perfection.

My Weekend Escape

This weekend was the best of times.  If you're waiting for me to say it was also the worst of times, you might want to pop a squat, 'cause I ain't gonna.  Handsome had Saturday AND Sunday off (I know, stifle your shouts of disbelief please, don't all yell at once.), and yes, I called the presses, it'll be in the mid-week edition.  So we took advantage of our time and made it a weekend to remember.

I feel it is only right, at this juncture, to state that my initial posting was incorrect, and we do not always miss each other's schedules.  So when the day comes up again where we do miss each other's off times, please direct me back here and remind me of the glorious weekend escape we had.  Oh July, you surely went out with a bang.
ASIDE: July came in with a bang, too.  Because of the fireworks and all.  That's cool.
I'll never take a better fireworks picture.
I've come to grips with the reality of it.
Anyway, who would want to??

A Loverly Weekend

Here's my question:  After a wonderful, off-the-charts, great great grand wonderful weekend, how does one go back to the regular day?  How do you relish the memories you've made these past 48 hours, and not sink into despair over the next... whatever 5*24 is?

I'm not sure.  I want to revel, I want to remember and smile and say "WONDERFUL!" really really loud, whenever someone asks me how my weekend was.  But the mind invariably drifts onward, and the future is looking cloudy, overcast, and even chilly, in contrast to the sunny, bright, and breezy last two days.

This will be my challenge this week.  I might not love it as much as I've loved the weekend.  I don't know that a person is exactly supposed to.  The weekday is, I claim without substantiated evidence, inherently different from the weekend.  But I know Monday has some treasures in it, I just have to find them.  I have to learn to love Monday for what it is, and not despise for what it can never be.

Remember, fair isn't the same for everyone, its giving each what it needs.  So I'll give Monday its due, and try and give it what it needs to be come a wonderful memory in its own right.  This girl right here, well, she might just have the right idea.  Of course, everyone's situations are different, but lets be honest: there's always someone with less time than you, and so you'd better enjoy the time you've got.

Duke wants you to have a good week, too.
He'd also like to know what to do with the excess tongue problem he seems to be having...

May your Monday be Merry & Bright,

Oh Yeah.

Oh yeah, baby.  Thats right.

Its Friday night and its about time.  This has been finals week, and its been a long week.  I'm still procrastinating on my one project, so I'm not quite done.  But hey, its Friday!  Time for you know what...

Oh yeah.  Thats right.  The perfect outfit: my soccer champs longsleve T from high school, and Handsome's over-sized sweat pants.  Yep.  I'm staying in.  Don't try to dissuade me; I'll just ignore you.  Don't try to tempt me; you won't win.  Puppy-dog eyes?  Never gonna move me.  I've been moderately social today, I've yogged (like jogging, but with a soft "j"), I'm done.

I might clean up a little.  I might not.  I might finally finish procrastinating and get all of my finals done and over with.  I might not.  I might use all of the oil in my house and deep-fry something.  I'd use a deep-fryer, but someone *coughHandsomecoughcough* won't let me have one.  That someone is under the idea that if I had one in the house, I would deep fry everything in sight, and then I'd be so large I wouldn't be able to leave the house.  In which case I'd just stay home and deep fry some more.  That someone might also be right, so I'm not going to push the matter.  I might also eat 2 lbs of strawberries and cantaloupe.

Really, just about anything could happen tonight.  Unless it involves me leaving the house.  In which case, let me say "Nada Chance!".  Seriously, I am legitimately excited about that perfect outfit.  Its... I don't know, wonderfully worn it, comfy without being overly warm... perfection.

So, since I'm not doing anything, why don't you tell me what you're doing tonight?  Or what you did last night, if you have something better to do tonight instead of read blogs, and you're reading this on Saturday morning. Or if you live in Sri Lanka and its already Saturday over there (I'm not 100% on my time zones, so I'm not guaranteeing that it is in fact that far ahead) (and as a p.s.- did you know that FL has 2 timezones???!?!  I did not.  This changes things for me.  I'm not sure what, but it changes things.)

For the record, Duke fully endorses my Friday night plans.

Housebound & Loving it,
TFW
