After Christmas Feelings

Hey you guys!  How you doin?

I'm... recovering, I guess you could say.  A friend of mine mentioned that she is disturbed by the huge build-up to Christmas, only to have it end in one day.  Sure, we stretch it out and make Christmas Eve part of the holiday, but then it's over.  Add into that scenario the whole we-were-with-our-humongous-families-for-8-days-and-now-we're-by-ourselves-again, and you've got yourself one weird set of feelings.  Perhaps you've got something similar going on.

Luckily, if you're me, you've also got yourself a rad new pair of boots!

I'm not sure if I love them because they're awesome, or because they're a bit ugly, but I really just don't care.  I love them, I love them, and I don't care who knows it!  I love them so much, I went though the trouble of tugging them on at 34 1/2 weeks pregnant, which was no small feat.  And I did it several times that day.  I wanted to wear them today, but Handsome is back at work, and I didn't have anyone to pull them off for me.  Much as I love them (have I mentioned that I love them?) I do not want to sleep in them.

I've got more to share later, but I wanted to pop in and say (1) that I haven't had the baby yet, despite my 3-week blogging hiatus, and (2) that I hope you all had a very merry Christmas, and that your new year starts off right.  I'm planning to wear these boots to ring it in.  If I'm not sleeping by the time midnight rolls around.  As I've already said, they aren't for sleeping.

Birthday Q & A

Q: Who's Got 2 Thumbs and a Birthday?

A: This girl.

But that question was easy.  Now for a harder one.

Q: Who's got 2 thumbs and a Colt Leg Knife?

A: Once again, this girl.

Fooled ya, didn't I?

Okay, final question.

Q: Who's got 2 thumbs and the best husband around?

A:  (in chorus now!) This girl!

I am treasured by my husband.  I'm also given a large amount of respect.  He'll take me to dinner, hold my hand when it's cold, and still expect me to split wood with a mall while he carries it.  He respects me as a partner, trusts me enough to depend on me, and still humors my rare-but-present girly side.  He's kind and funny, inappropriate and practical.  He's wonderful.

Okay, and now a final final question.

Q: Who has 2 thumbs and thinks being in love with her husband is the best birthday present ever?

A: This girl.

Being "this girl",

I Had Christmas Down In Africa

You. Have. To listen to. THIS.
NOTE: I'd put it on this actual site, but it's so good, it's restricted.  Sort of like a banned book.  Which makes it better.
Yes, it's from 1998, but it's just about my favorite.  EVA.  I may or may not replay from the 1:50 mark repeatedly.  I will NOT judge you if you decide to do the same thing.

In other news, I'm closing out the last week of the semester - Finals Week!  I've always loved the week of finals, what with it's lighter load and infrequent class-going.  Fantastic.  And please, don't ask me, "So how long do you have left?" as though I (a) should be wrapping this up already, and (b) should even have the next 2 years of my life planned out.  I have no idea, and yes, I know I've been here forever, doing these homework things and attending these class-type things.  Let's just say there is not a light yet at the end of the tunnel, and I'll let you know when there is, m'kay?  'kay.

Along with finals, I'm working on finishing up Christmas presents, which I'd love to tell you all about and share pictures of, because they're AWESOME, but I can't because that'd ruin the surprise.

Speaking of ruining surprises, I accepted a package from the FEDEX guy today.  It's my present from Handsome & Co.  I really really REALLY want to open it.  But again, that'd ruin the surprise.

I'm considering a new button, whaddaya think?
Or perhaps just a t-shirt.
Who's with me!?

But I still really really REALLY want to open it.

What about you, do you peak?  Do you snoop?  I usually do everything in my power to keep it a surprise, while simultaneously trying to find out.  Yes, there is a lot of conflict within me.  It's kind of my "thing".

Hoping the shipping tape breaks,
